Copy Program Settings from One Computer to Another
- by Gary Cox -

Companies with multiple computers using OnLine Plus can set all of those computers up to have the same settings and look. Since most of the settings in OnLine Plus are stored in the Windows' system registry, the best and quickest way to do this is to copy the registry settings from one computer to the others.

To start the process, you will need to go through the program, on one computer, and set all of the correct file paths, toolbar configurations and colors.  Then you will need to open the Windows Registry Editor.

In Windows XP, go to the start button and then select Run from the right side of the menu after it appears. Once you have the Run window open, type “regedit” into the “Open:” line. Then click OK.

After you click the OK button, the registry editor will open. When you click on the plus sign next to folders, if there are subfolders they will expand and allow you to see them. To find the OnLine Plus registry key, Click on the plus sign next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER under My Computer.
When that expands, find the Software folder and expand that. Under the Software folder you will find the Robbins folder. Right click on the Robbins folder and select Export.  After you select Export, you will be prompted to save the file to a location of your choosing, this will also allow you to give the file a name you will recognize.  It is recommended that you save the file to your server, so it can be accessed by other computers in your network easily.  To make other computers have the same settings, find the registry file you saved, from the computer you wish to make the changes on. When you find the file, double click on it and you will be prompted to allow the changes to your system registry to be made.  Click on the appropriate button to make the changes you requested. When you open OnLine Plus the next time, it will be set up exactly like the machine that you copied the registry key from.
There are some slight differences in how you go through the same procedure in Windows Vista or Windows 7. To open the registry editor in Windows Vista or Windows 7, you need to click on the Start button and then go to All Programs.  Once you click on All Programs, select the Accessories folder then click on Run to open the Run window.  In Vista/7 you will not see plus/minus signs next to the unexpanded/expanded folders you will see an arrow pointing to the right on unexpanded folders, and the arrow will point downward on expanded folders. The OnLine Plus registry key is in the same location no matter what the operating system you use.
Before you Install OnLine Plus or go through the above procedure on a Windows 7 or Windows Vista computer , you will need to make changes to the User Account Control settings. To do this, click on the Start button and select Control Panel.  Select User Accounts in the Control Panel.  Select a user account and click on “Change User Account Control settings.  You will need to change the setting to the lowest possible setting. Once this change has been made, it should not be changed back to a higher setting..
